hudi-unused-hammerstones

There is a rare “dump” of more than 200 big hammerstones by the mine at site 9 in Wadi el-Hudi. Never used for breaking stone, they were at some stage deposited in a concerted action. Were they left just before the mine was given up? Or are they rather showing how hammerstones in general were deposited by the mine, free to be picked up by the miners when starting another day of hard labour? Photo by Per Storemyr
